Jess Azure began her real estate career at Beyond Realty! She grew up in Rolette, ND and attended UND and spent time as a Massage Therapist and Aesthetician and instructor in Lisbon, ND and at Hair Success in Fargo. She is a graduate of NDSU and has a background in Public Policy. Jess was active in the Smoke Free ND Campaign while working with a grant program in Traill and Steele (ND) Counties. Most recently, Jess worked as a Recruiter and Talent Advisor at TMI Hospitality. Jess and her husband, Ryan and daughter, Julia live in South Fargo along with their English Bulldog, Rakken.
First Job: Lifeguard at the Rolette Pool & Waitress at Village Café (Which often makes the list of Best Small town Restaurants of ND).
Favorite Colors: Purple
Obsessions/Addictions/Hobbies: Hobbies: Cooking, boating (I asked for a boat instead of an engagement ring), hiking and camping, swimming. I still have big dreams of traveling, and learning more yoga. I really enjoy new experiences and meeting new people. I cherish great friendships, and great conversationalists! I have aspirations of one day publishing something I’ve written and starting a business (my doodles are make-believe business plans—It’s very nerdy).
Addictions: Duluth & Lake Superior, my favorite vocal artist: Brandi Carlile, great skin care products and Medi Spa treatments (Aesthetic background). Great shoes, tacos, La Croix Sparkling water, Caribou Coffee. Meditation.
Secret loves: Gilded age mansions, theatre/acting (there is no greater time than Halloween and getting into full costume).
Favorite TV Show/Movie? MadMen and The Office are my favorite TV shows and Wayne's World is my favorite movie (and many other stupid comedies)!
Pet Peeves: Nail biting, Rudeness, not being respectful to other people
Favorite Quote: "For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again." F. Scot Fitzgerald
Favorite Charity & Why: (1) ACLU, (2) NPR, (3) Dakota Plains Food bank, and (4) Rape and Abuse Crisis Center/YWCA
ACLU- Why: As Judy Kutulas of St. Olaf College wrote: “The ACLU provides key checks and balances on which our government is based.” (and I would add is a resource for all Americans and for all constitutional liberties).
Rape and Abuse Crisis Center: In 2015, we at TMI, tragically lost a great leader to domestic violence, but no one ever talks about that side of it. We must fight any and all diseases that lead to these tragedies in our communities.
What’s the first real estate you purchased? Do you still own it? My first real estate purchase was in Mayville, ND. I do not still own it. It was a cute Dutch-Colonial with lots of character. It was a very proud personal moment, as I purchased the property without a spouse or the help of my parents. That house, along with the year I purchased will always be special to me, not just because it was the first home I ever owned, but because I made so many great memories there.
